Hiking

Hiking enthusiasts of all levels will find something to suit them in Val Surses: from world-famous, challenging routes such as the tour over the Septimer and Lunghin passes to the Engadin or Bergell, to leisurely walks suitable for pushchairs everything is possible. Take advantage of the information material available or simply drop by the tourist office in Savognin – they will be happy to give you great tips tailored to your needs.

Mountainbike & E-Bike

From Savognin, you can of course also explore the mountains on your own bike or a hired one. There are numerous signposted and well-maintained trails of varying degrees of difficulty, guided tours and convenient transport options (see below).

Mountain Cart & Trottinett

Fun sports equipment is becoming increasingly popular, as it allows you to give your legs a break while still actively enjoying the magnificent mountain scenery – even without any special prior knowledge. You should enjoy speed and have a good sense of balance (scooter).

You will find a rental shop at the Savognin mountain railway valley station. The rates usually include the train journey.

Climbing

The Motta da Crest climbing garden is located in Bivio, with 11 routes and basalt cliffs up to 20 metres high. Supervised activities are also available here on Thursdays (during the peak summer season).

If you would like to go climbing in the great outdoors, a tour with a professional mountain guide might be of interest to you.

Swimming & Water Sports

In Savognin, you will find Lai Barnagn , a large artificial swimming lake with excellent water quality that is rarely overcrowded, even in summer. Here you can swim, hire a boat or stand-up paddle equipment , doze in the sun or shade, and grab a snack at the kiosk . Admission to the lake is free, but additional services are subject to a charge.

Right next to the bathing lake, there is also a mini golf course, a pump track , a beach volleyball court and other leisure facilities.

Parking is available at the Savognin mountain railways.

Swimming is also permitted at Lai Marmorera , but not near the dam wall, as this can be dangerous due to the suction effect. Please check the current regulations.

Here, experienced scuba divers with a mountain lake certification also have the opportunity to explore Lai Marmorera underwater:

Barbecue food and charcoal – you need to bring these yourself, of course.

Please always ensure that the fire cannot spread to the surrounding area and extinguish it carefully when you leave the site.
